International standing
Palissander has an international standing, as evidenced by its track record summarised below:
- 2000 - Only representative from Africa selected to perform at the conference of the International Society for Music Education in Edmonton, Canada
- 2002 - Only representative from Africa selected to perform at the conference of the International Society for Music Education in Bergen, Norway (with additional performances in Denmark and The Netherlands)
- 2003 - Resident choir at the conference of the Pan African Society for Musical Arts Education in Kisumu, Kenya
- 2004, 2006 and 2008 - Only choir from Africa selected to take part in the International Choir Festival organised by the Ensembles Polyphoniques en Provence in Italy and France
- 2008 - One of only 12 choirs world-wide selected to take part in the International Choir Festival of Sacred Music in Rottenburg, Germany. During the festival Palissander was one of only three of the international choirs present to be invited to take part in a recording of a BBC Evensong
Based on the quality of the choir's performances in France, Palissander has pre-qualified for any future festivals organised by the Ensembles Polyphoniques en Provence and does not need to go through the formal selection process. This year the choir has gained direct entry as the only choir from Africa to take part in the International Choir Festival in Aveyron, France. The organisers arranged two additional concerts for Palissander in the vicinity of Barcelona, Spain.
